Hey girls,
Just wondering what aspects we wanted to include in our script for our podcast? I didn't know if you girls wanted to include what is given in the example, why we are using PBL, what has been done thus far, and where are we headed (big project)? Let me know as I know we have time, but I would really like to get this project going as I know the 2nd week for the project is spring break and I have a lot going on as I am sure you do as well!
I am going to go ahead a explain why we are using the PBL approach for writing and putting on a play.
ReplyDeletehey! yes I agree. it also says to pull out at least two concepts from the textbook , one of these can defintelyy come into play during your explanation of why were are using PBL
ReplyDeleteI do like the ideas of then talking about what we have done (I'll do that) and then where we are headed... which does that mean what our next lesson is to be? or I am just not too sure what to put in a script about where we are going next
and as far as what we have done... we have created a collaborative blog for our group, we created a concept map on the top of Writing and putting on a play using performance, literary and technical elements. we created cultural awareness assignment for our students via pen pals (add more detail here), they will also be interacting with a google map we created pin pointing where around the world well known playwrites have been written, we completed 3 lesson plans ( should I list the names of our lesson plans?) do i mention how we learned about AT and Copyright laws? I am not sure if she just wants us to talk about what we have done for the project with "our students" or what we have done all semester? If that makes sense?
ReplyDeleteYeah, that sounds great. I believe she would just want us to include what we've done with our students so far, not the two papers we wrote.
ReplyDeleteawesome so should we create a google doc for show our scripts to one another?
ReplyDeletewell I can just post it in here this is what I have for my script
ReplyDeleteFirst we decided what our group would be and therefore our students will do a project on the study of writing a play as well as putting on the play. As teachers we created a concept map on Writing and putting on a play using performance, literary and technical elements. We created an assignment for our students via the use of pen pals so our students can demonstrate cultural understanding and global awareness. This will allow students to research traditions in other areas and countries with the performing arts displaying an understanding of the various ways we can express ourselves through the performing arts other than just a play. Student’s pen pals are from another location in the country that are in enrolled in a performing art school. Students then will be interacting with a Google Map we created pin pointing where around the world well known playwrights have been written. Next we each created a lesson plan that involves research performed by the students on a concept within our project.
Sorry to jump on this a few days late.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you both have a great start for the script. Let me know where the gap is for me to fill in information please
You will be doing where we are headed next or you can cover any other part of our project it says... and there still needs to be 2 concepts from the book I would imagine that within Meredith's script she will cover the topic of PBL concept, and maybe you can go into more detail on another concept from the book
ReplyDeleteWill be posting mine soon...been a busy couple of days!
ReplyDeleteHere is what I have so far.
ReplyDeleteWhy we are using Project Based Learning?
Project based learning is very different from traditional learning that most of us experienced in the classroom. First of all, Project Based Learning allows students to investigate open ended questions and apply their knowledge to produce authentic products There are several reasons why we are using this approach to learning instead of the traditional approach. Students engage in real world activities as well as work collaboratively to solve problems that matter to them. This type of learning also allows technology to be integrated as a tool for discovery, collaboration, and communication. It allows us teachers to achieve essential learning goals in new ways. This type of learning requires higher order ways of thinking such as analyzing information, evaluating information, and creating.
Let me know what you think. I most likely will add some more.
How do we want to go about doing this podcast? Should we pick a time so we can all work together on this and put it together recording our part of the script or does it allow us to do this at different times and just edit our script so it flows. I think I read we all have to participate so just not one of us does the talking, Is this correct?
Yes we definitely each record our own part/script and then we can somehow put them all together without having to be working on it all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteAlso Meredith your script sounds really good! Includes all the stuff an audience would want to know!
ReplyDeleteFrom the Instructions Page
ReplyDelete*To combine podcast files, one group member will collect the rest of the podcast files. The other group members need to export their portion as an MP3 file. Then attach it to an email. The group member putting them together needs to save the file from the email (not open), and then import the file into their audacity file. It will be automatically added to the program in a new row. The group member putting it together needs to move the imported files in the correct spot using the Time Shift tool.
Sounds good, I will work on my portion and a concept from the book tonight and post what I have. Meredith your script sounds very good, all key to the point information without being to wordy or long.
ReplyDeleteKatlyn, I was thinking we can look at ch6 and ch7 as to where we are going next and to say we will be incorporating ideas from those chapters into our students projects. Basically how we answer how this chapter relates to our project but just take it as yes we will be using these concepts to further into our project! Yay? Nay? I think this was basically what you had in mind anyway.
ReplyDeleteK, thanks. I just added one concluding sentence. I am working on my part currently.
ReplyDeleteSo I can't seem to figure out how it works. I downloaded the program and hit record as it states in the directions to do so. It seems like it records what I am saying, but I am unable to hear anything when I play it back.
ReplyDeleteHmm I was gonna give it a go this afternoon or tomorrow. Hopefully we can figure it out! :X
ReplyDeleteOk let me know how it goes for you, it could just be something with my mic or who knows!
ReplyDeleteOkay I am able to playback what I recorded but the quality is not very good. I think it might have to be something with your mic..
ReplyDeleteThe real struggle is adding music...
ReplyDeleteI figured it out. So are we sending our track to you via email since you are adding the music?
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you would like me to try with the music.
ReplyDeleteI think we each add our own music?
ReplyDeleteOr do I need to re-record it and send you it to add music?
ReplyDeleteI think we have to start the podcast with music that fades then we all speak and then have the music play at the end. You can send it to me, I can
ReplyDeleteOops we are supposed to have the music playing softly through out I believe.
ReplyDeleteok so the original one i sent wont work?
ReplyDeleteI did...let me see if I can figure out how to put this together.
ReplyDeleteSo myself and someone who is very tech savvy has been working on combining files for the last 3 hours and we are having major issues. I have a MacBook and doesn't seem to
ReplyDeleteBe compatible with the program. I don't know what to do??? I am going to email our professor, I am going to try one more thing.
ReplyDeleteChelsea - Yes, I am planning on incorporating ch 6 & 7. Currently I am finishing up my script and will work to record mine either tonight or tomorrow morning.
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you all find out about the music though because I am not sure how that is all suppose to work. My mic is on my computer so I might check to see if someone I know has a separate one I can use for better clarity.
Does anyone else have a computer other than Apple? I can't seem to save my track, but am hoping to use a friend's computer if I can download the program and save it. I work all day today, but am planning on doing it tomorrow. Here is my number in case you want to get in touch if you guys have any other ideas as this thing is due obviously tomorrow, 616-560-3490.
ReplyDeleteyou export the file it doesnt let you"save" it
ReplyDeleteYeah we tried that. I think it is my computer, but I am using a friend's today as it isn't an apple computer.
ReplyDeleteIf I can't get it to work, I don't know what to do?
ReplyDeleteI am still having trouble exporting the file. I emailed Sharon. I may try to meet wither this week if she has time.
ReplyDeleteHm okay. Try sending the 3 files to me via email and Ill try.
ReplyDeleteK, I only ever received yours, unless you sent me Katlyn's too?
ReplyDeleteOkay well send me yours.
ReplyDeleteAlso Katlyn,
ReplyDeleteI am not sure when you were planning on sending your script to either of us...but its due today... and I don't have all day to try and do this.
My script: • Having a clear direction in all projects, specifically a project based learning project, is crucial to ensure students take away the information as teachers we want them to and guarantee a project is worthwhile. Our project, and all the tasks we have been working with our students on up to this point have been part of developing a Professional Learning Community in our classroom. Our project requires us as teachers, and our students to all have a shared ultimate goal, and utilizing student to student, student to teacher, and student to world interactions. Developing a learning community in our classroom ensures all benefit from a multitude of thoughts and ideas. As we look ahead the focus will be on implementing our project about writing and putting on a play. In addition, how to guide our students as they progress through the overall project with the end goal of students knowing the play process from start to finish. Launching a project requires tapping into student’s prior knowledge, getting their minds ready and interested, and teaching them the fundamentals first so they have a solid launching point for the end project. Progressing through the project we will focus on classroom discussions, conflicts that occur, and further ways to optimize technology (for example podcasting which is being utilized right now). Further in the future we will be working on lesson plans incorporating data collection, further revising our concept map, creating a digital story and storyboard. Everything that is expected of our students is related to our overall goal and will ultimately benefit our classroom learning community as a whole.
ReplyDeleteI had to go to the store and get a new mic as mine that is built in my computer was not picking up very well. I'm re-recording mine as we speak.
This project is somethin else.. that stinks you had to go to the store. But yes once you record yours shoot me an email.
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry that took WAY longer than I thought it would for just adding music to it. I just e-mail it. Please let me know if you received and everything is ok.
ReplyDeleteThis project is a nightmare!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what happened to the last 3 or 4 comments on this, but again here is my script:

I did just send my podcast portion to you both. I'm really sorry it took so long between the mic issue and getting the music to work this has been one difficult project compared to the rest.
Please let me know if you do not receive or are having issues.
Thank you!
Meredith can you please email attach me your recording or is this what you cannot figure out how to do?
ReplyDeleteI have mine and Katlyns together and we each have our own music that fades in and then out, so all I need is yours Meredith with music in the background and it should be real easy for me to finish this.
ReplyDeleteThank you for combining everything Chelsea!
ReplyDeleteYeah, my computer isn't allowing me to export it.
ReplyDeleteMeredith - Do you have the newest version of Audacity downloaded? Do you get an error when you try to export?
ReplyDeleteSome how it seems to be saving as an mP2 not MP3
ReplyDeleteI did get an error. Can I send what seemed to save to see if it is my audio track?
ReplyDeleteJust sent you both my audio track, just to make sure you can even open it or hear it. I will work on adding music, but please let me know if it worked.
ReplyDeleteMeredith - I was able to open it and listen
ReplyDeleteHave you received a response back from Chelsea as I know she had put mine and hers together and was just waiting on yours?
Done....just sent it. Sounds pretty good. Good Job! Have a excellent Spring Break :)
ReplyDeleteOkay thanks Chelsey! again, I apologize with how last minute mine was due to technical problems!!!
